School district bond, levy elections set Tuesday

Voters will head to the polls on Tuesday to weigh in on more than a dozen school district requests for funding.

Eight school districts are seeking supplemental levies to help with operational costs, while a handful are asking for school plant facilities reserve fund levies, which can be used to improve or acquire new school facilities and equipment. One school district is also seeking a bond.

Here’s a closer look at the requests that will be on the ballots in Eastern Idaho on Tuesday:

Bear Lake School District 33 is asking for a school plant facilities reserve fund levy of $400,000 each year for 10 years.

Bonneville Joint School District 93 is seeking a $35,319,840 bond to build and furnish a new middle school, replace the roof of Iona Elementary School, make safety improvements at Falls Valley Elementary School, and acquire land for future school sites, as well as design work for upgrades to Bonneville and Hillcrest high schools, according to the sample ballot.

Firth School District 59 is asking voters for a supplemental levy of $300,000 each year for two years.

Grace School District 148 is seeking a $150,000 school plant facilities reserve fund levy as well as a $300,000 supplemental levy. Both levies would be in place for one year.

Marsh Valley School District 21 is asking for a school plant facilities reserve fund levy of $900,000 each year for 10 years.

North Gem School District 149 is seeking a supplemental levy of $300,000 each year for two years.

Oneida School District 351 is asking for a plant facilities levy of $120,000 each year for 10 years, as well as a supplemental levy of $290,000 each year for two years.

Shelley Joint School District 60 is seeking a supplemental levy of $575,000 each year for two years.

Snake River School District 52 is asking for a school plant facilities reserve fund levy of $750,000 each year for 10 years.

Soda Springs Joint School District 150 is seeking a supplemental levy of $728,000 for one year.

West Side School District 202 is seeking a supplemental levy of $90,000 for one year.
